November and December News

A fabulous festive season ahead

As December approaches school is very busy indeed. Here are some key dates:

Mr Grafton’s funeral – Thursday 5th December. School to close at 1.30pm

We have the final plans for the funeral of our much-loved teacher Tony Grafton. This will take place on the afternoon of Thursday 5th December. Our governing body have agreed to an early closure of school so that our staff can attend the funeral at 2pm. Children should be collected from school at 1.30pm. We ask for your understanding at this very difficult time for our school community.

Please contact us directly if this is problematic for you and your family, we can work with our wrapround partners to put in place provision until 3.30pm for children who cannot be picked up until then.

Dress Down Day – Friday 29th November.

Friday 29th November will be a ‘dress down’ day with children able to come dressed in non-uniform. We ask them to bring in a donation/ prize for the Christmas Fayre raffle in return for this. This might be wine, chocolates, toiletries or other treats that can be added to our luxury hamper.

School PTA Christmas Fayre – Friday 6th December 5pm – 7pm

Our annual PTA Christmas Fayre will take on Friday 6th December between 5pm and 7pm. We will have our usual range of stalls and refreshments including some absolutely brilliant stalls where everything has been created by our pupils. We look forward to seeing you there.

School Carol Service – Tuesday 10th December 6pm

Our Christmas Carol service led by our staff and featuring the Salvation Army band will take place on Tuesday 10th December at 6pm. This is a wonderful way for the whole family to join with us to share some Christmas magic.

This year our amazing Year 3s will be performing Fee, Fie, Fo, Fum to their families. We will be in touch with you shortly with regard to booking tickets but please put the date very firmly in your diaries. We are sure that our Year3 families already know the songs and lines very well already!

Christmas Party Day – 18th December

Wednesday 18th December will be our Christmas Party day where children can come to school in their party clothes and bring items for a shared party lunch. There will be no hot meals on this day and your child’s teacher will be in touch with regard to which party lunch items they would like you to send in.

Cold Weather Clothing

One of the great things about life is that there is always a surprise around the corner, yesterday’s weather was just one of those occasions. It was good to keep school running as normal and this is something we will always endeavour to do. Also, we want the children to be able to enjoy the snow when it comes, so please send them with warm clothing and a change of shoes/ boots should we have another period of winter weather.
