Summer News 2025

We are really looking forward to a sunny and happy June and July in school
SUMMER 2025 NEWS
Moving on – fond farewells
As we enter our final term of the year our thoughts turn to those members of our school community who are moving on in their education and careers. We have much planned to fill our Y6’s final weeks with us with joy and excitement.
At the same time, we are sadly saying goodbye to Mrs Verdon, who retires at the end of term after many years of inspirational teaching at Nettleham C of E Junior School. Miss Pike, who has made a massive impression on all of the children that she has taught over the past two years, is also moving on to a new, exciting job in the South West of England. Both will be greatly missed, and we will be in touch over the next few weeks to let you know about how you can contribute to acknowledging the impact that they have had on the life of our school. I am very pleased to inform you that we have appointed two new teachers for September 2025 – Mr Ben Forster and Miss Megan Jones.
Sports Day arrangements – Wednesday 25th June 2025
- Lunchtime – Shared picnic lunch – children and families
- Afternoon – Traditional Races
At lunchtime – from 12.15 pm – you are welcome to join the children on the field to share a picnic lunch (children taking hot school meals will eat their dinner and then join the rest of the children on the field).
We will be holding our races all in the afternoon, beginning at 1.30pm. This will see a mixture of traditional races with children competing against their peers in their year group.
Obviously, this all depends on the weather. We will keep you well-informed of any intention to reschedule the day should it look like being affected by the weather.
Talent Show - Thursday 26th June
Thursday 26th June sees our annual talent show. Children can perform any talent or skill that they would like to, we look forward to being amazed by them! If children need any backing music they should let us know, we will find this on YouTube/ the Internet in advance (we will give out slips to the children to let us know this). If they need anything else, just let us know. The winners will go on to perform on the Main Stage at Nettleham Carnival on Saturday 5th July.
School Disco - Friday 4th July
Our PTA are organising a school disco on Friday 4th July from 6.00-7.30pm. Children can purchase tickets, at a cost of £3.50, from school during morning playtimes this week or from the school office.
The ticket price does include a free hot-dog and squash/water. Please do let us know if your child has any dietary requirements, by sending an email to salina.west@nettleham-junior.lincs.sch.uk by Wednesday 3rd July, so we can cater accordingly.
To add to the disco fun, pocket money toys, sweets, face glitter and transfer tattoos will be available to buy, so your child may wish to bring some pennies to spend.
Parents are asked to collect their children from the hall at the end of the disco at 7.30pm.
Carnival Monarch
The Carnival team have asked us to circulate the forms for children who would like to be considered for the role of 'Carnival Monarch'. A copy of the form is attached to the electronic version of this newsletter, and we will also be circulating paper copies in school. The forms need to be returned to school by Tuesday 24th June 2025.
Busy busy busy
We have so much happening in school at the moment – from Bikeability to trips far and wide to buddy visits to secondary transition days to Kingswood residential trips and beyond. Please note the latest diary and look out for further details over the next weeks.
We are really looking forward to sharing sunny and happy events with you all over the summer months.
